Second Saturday Shout-out: Hurricane Ian Relief Efforts

As a company based out of Florida, this Second Saturday Shoutout hits closer to home after the recent hurricane that devastated the state. Hurricane Ian, a category 4 hurricane, made landfall in Florida on September 28th and left a path of destruction in its wake. Over 100 confirmed deaths, thousands of homes destroyed, and billions of dollars worth of damage.

They say that the worst events often show the humanity in people and bring us together, and that couldn’t be more true in the aftermath of Ian. Countless first responders headed down to the southwest coast to help and donations are pouring in to aid with various parts of the clean up and destruction. So for this month, we at Citriclean have decided to shout-out everyone involved in the relief efforts for Hurricane Ian. We want to take this time to highlight some really good charities that are helping mitigate the effects of the storm. If you have the means to do so, please consider making a donation to some of these charities or any other relief effort, or consider helping out in any other way that is possible.

Feeding Florida is a charity that works on providing food, water, and resources to those affected by Hurricane Ian. Many people are facing food scarcity and homelessness after the storm, so providing these necessities is of the utmost importance.

Additionally, the Florida Disaster Fund provides immediate response grants and long term recovery grants to help with the recovery of the private and public sectors of Florida. This fund is run by the State of Florida government.

Finally, the American Red Cross also has a disaster relief fund for those in need in Florida. They also are always in need of blood, some of which may be used to aid those who have been injured during the storm.

We want to give a shoutout to all of the other charities and relief efforts that are underway, working tirelessly to help the situation and those that have to go through such a traumatic event. Additionally, we want to reiterate our support for all of the first responders and good samaritans who have taken the time out of their days in order to help during the hurricane and help with the recovery post-Ian.

Hurricane Ian definitely left a horrible impact on our state, however as Floridians, we know the importance of staying strong, helping one another out, and rebuilding Florida to be better than ever. Our hopes and prayers are with everyone who was affected by such a traumatic event. Check out the links to the charities/relief efforts mentioned (links are below!).
