Second Saturday Shout-out: Arsh Pal

This month’s Second Saturday Shoutout is dedicated to Arsh Pal, a 12 year old from Iowa who raised over $15,000 for multiple charities by selling his art.

Arsh began painting when he was just 8 years old, when he decided to begin selling his paintings to raise money for St. Jude Research Hospital in order to help kids with cancer. His first goal was to raise $1,000, a feat that he accomplished in less than a year. In the four years that he has sold his paintings for charity, Arsh has managed to raise over $15,000 which he has donated to St. Judes, Easterseals, Compass to Care, the Riverview Center, and the Make-a-Wish foundation.

Arsh believes it is important to give back to these meaningful causes because these organizations help children who are battling illnesses, something that really resonates with him. He stated “There’s a lot of young kids who have cancer and it’s kind of hard to feel what they're going through right now.”

Outside of raising money for these organizations, Arsh also teaches nursing home residents how to paint. He is aided by his mother, who works at the home, and his 6 year old brother, who hands out the supplies.

For his effort to help others, Arsh was awarded the Diana Award, which is a prestigious youth humanitarian award in memory of Princess Diana. He also has received the High Flyers Award in India and is a board member of the Loukoumi Foundation, a non-profit that focuses on youth participation in the community.

Arsh Pal has done so much good at such a young age. He has channeled his talent and dedication to painting to raise a lot of money for all of these amazing charities, some of which we have shouted out in other Second Saturday Shoutout posts. For these reasons, we feel that Arsh is truly deserving of this shoutout. Thank you for everything you do Arsh. Keep up the good work!
